ACS Dress Code

The following guidelines of dress for the students of Ashland Christian School have been thoughtfully addressed and approved by the Ashland Christian School Board and Administration. The dress code guidelines assist the educational process in realizing the educational goals of Ashland Christian School and are supported by principles found in the Word of God: Titus 3:1-2, Romans 13:1&5 – Submission to Authority, Roman 12:1-2 and I Corinthians 6:19-20 – Unconformity to the world’s pattern. These guidelines apply to any school activity unless otherwise directed by the ACS office.

Guidelines for Girls

All clothing must be modest, age appropriate, neat, clean, and in good taste. Jewelry and make-up should not be excessive – multiple piercing, dangling ear-rings, and ankle bracelets are not permitted. Hair must be neat, clean, well-groomed, and should not hang over the eyes. Unusual colored hair and extreme hair styles are not permitted. Hats may not be worn inside the school buildings.

Tops
All tops and dress bodice must have a collar. Turtle and mock-necked tops are acceptable. Crew-neck sweaters are also acceptable. No distinct text/graphics is permitted. ACS T-shirts are permitted on “spirit” days (Fridays).
T-shirts, sweat shirts, V- neck sweaters, and zippered tops must be worn with a collared top. Tailed tops must be tucked in. Zippered tops with collars must be worn with a t-shirt.

The following tops are unacceptable: sleeveless, strapless, spaghetti strap, halter, see-through, low-cut, midriff, excessively form fitting, camouflage, athletic, and denim.

Dresses, Jumpers, Skirts, Skorts
The length of all dresses, jumpers, skirts, and skorts should be no shorter than the top of the knee.

Slits are not permitted. Denim skirts or jumpers are not permitted. They may be worn on specified occasions and “spirit” days (Fridays).

Slacks, Pants, Capri’s
Slacks, pants, and capris (peddle pushers), gauchos, of various colors and styles may be worn.

Shoes
All shoes must cover the entire foot. Flip-flops, sandals, and pool shoes may be worn on specified occasions.
All shoes must be worn with socks, nylons, tights, and/or footies.
High-heeled shoes are permitted only on specified occasions.

Spirit Days
School colors, ACS T-shirts, ACS sweat shirts, ACS sweaters, etc., may be worn on Fridays and game days.

Guidelines for Boys

All clothing must be modest, age appropriate, neat, clean, and in good taste. Jewelry should not be excessive and earrings are not permitted. Hair must be neat, clean, and well-groomed. Hair should not hang over eyes, extend past the bottom of the ear, or extend below the top of a collared shirt. Unusual colored hair, extreme hair styles and pony tails are not permitted. Hats may not be worn inside the school buildings.

Shirts
All shirts and/or sweaters must have a collar. Turtle and mock-necked shirts are acceptable. Crew-neck sweaters are also acceptable. No distinct text/graphics is permitted. ACS T-shirts are permitted on “spirit” days (Fridays).
T-shirts, sweat shirts, and V-neck sweaters must be worn with a collared shirt. Tailed shirts must be tucked in. Zippered shirts with collars must be worn with a t-shirt.

The following shirts are unacceptable: camouflage, denim, wind suits, and athletic shirts.

Slacks, Pants, Shorts
Slacks, pants, and shorts (longs only) of various colors and styles may be worn.

The following pants and shorts are unacceptable: athletic shorts, athletic pants, camouflage, and bib overalls. No distinct text/graphics is permitted.
Holey, frayed, and excessively long pants are not permitted.

Denim is not permitted Monday - Thursday. Denim may be worn on specified occasions and “spirit” days (Fridays).

Belts must be worn with pants that have belt hoops with no elastic waist.

Shoes
All shoes must cover the entire foot.
All shoes must be worn with socks and/or ankle socks.
Flip-flops, sandals, and pool shoes may be worn on specified occasions.

Spirit Days
School colors, ACS T-shirts, ACS sweat shirts, ACS sweaters, etc., may be worn on Fridays and game days.

Enforcement of the Dress Code

If a student is found to be in violation of the dress code, the parents may be notified by the teacher or administrator and may be asked to bring appropriate clothing.
